The Milledgeville High School Library
was the recipient of a $3000.00 Library Services & Technology Act (LSTA)
Grant in 2006. The funds were used to purchase books that support
student research projects and the information literacy curriculum.
Sponsored by the Illinois State Library, the LSTA grant awarded $3.4
million to 500 school, public, academic, and special libraries across
the state in 2006. Our program entitled "I Want to Know" is geared
towards teaching students the correct way to use the library's resources
and the internet to find quality information for research projects and
topics in which they have personal interest. Information is
everywhere, but it takes special skills to sort through and find exactly
what is needed at a particular time. The goal of the library is to
train students to be self-sufficient as they build their futures as life-long learners in
the information age. |
