Supplies for my classroom:

Information on homework, tests, etc.:
Homework: I try to provide equal amounts of homework, quizzes and tests, so students who don't test well can still succeed in my classroom. Failure to do homework will affect your grade severely. I do not accept late homework--period! See the student handbook for the school's policy on making up homework due to absences. It is the student's responsibility to get make up work!!
Quizzes and Tests: Occasionally I give quizzes which are usually worth between 20-30 points each. Students who miss quizzes and tests must see me in order to make them up. I will not hunt you down. Tests and quizzes not made up in a week become zeros.
Projects: Sometimes I will assign large or small projects in place of a test or quiz. These may be very detailed and group-oriented. I usually let students select their own groups. Remember that if you want group members to participate chose wisely!
Research Papers: Most of my classes will write one research paper for me (Honors English writes several papers, including one large research paper in English 102). This is a major project that consumes several weeks. Because of this, the due date for these papers is final! If a student is absent the day it is due, arrangements must be made to deliver the paper on the due date (it can be turned in earlier).

Participation Points: These account for about 10 percent of your grade. You lose points by: Ø Talking without permission Ø Poor behavior Ø Not participating in class discussion, work, etc. Ø Coming to class unprepared. |
