Notes from the
Superintendent
I hope you are
enjoying the summer and are looking
forward to the challenges of a new
school year. Many of our faculty and
staff have already been working to
prepare for the 2011-2012 school year.
They will soon be here full-time, to
provide the instruction that will help
all of our students become the best they
can be. New faculty members will be
highlighted in the October Newsletter.
Our District
custodial staff members, Mr. Chuck
Geary, Mrs. Ruth Wolf, Mr. Randy
Kolthoff, Mr. Jeremy Diehl, and Mr.
Steve Adee, are doing an excellent job
in maintaining the school grounds and
preparing both buildings for the new
school year! Both buildings have been
thoroughly cleaned, rooms painted,
floors waxed, and broken fixtures
replaced. Our buildings may be old but
they are well maintained thanks to the
efforts of our custodial staff!
A student's success
in school is influenced by the student's
own effort and by the interest and
cooperation of parents with the school.
If you have any questions, concerns or
suggestions, or if you wish to arrange a
conference, please phone your student's
school:
Chadwick Elementary
and Junior High at 684-5191,
Milledgeville
Elementary and High School at 225-7141
or 225-7143.
We wish to remind
parents that the school buildings are
not open before 8:15 a.m., at which time
school employees will enable students to
enter through the various doors.
Students or parents arriving after 8:30
a.m. need to enter through the following
buzzer release doors:
Chadwick School –
West front main entrance on School
Street,
Milledgeville
School – North rear main entrance from
the parking lot (bus platform
entrance). All exterior doors at each
building are locked from the outside on
a permanent basis during the school day
to enhance safety and security.
All visitors (those
who are not students or school
employees) need to report to the school
office to state their business and
receive a visitor badge. Upon the
completion of their business, the
visitor will return the badge to the
office. Alternate arrangements may be
made by parents who pick up their
pre-school students on a daily basis by
contacting the student’s teacher
directly.
Our school news
will again be presented on the last
Wednesday of each month through an
insert in the Prairie Advocate
Newspaper. We hope you will save the
insert for reference to the lunch menu
and for reference to activity dates
throughout each month. Thanks to the
efforts of our technology coordinator
Mr. Martin Stauffer, much of our school
district news is also posted on the
District’s website:
www.dist399.net.
Welcome back to
school. I hope you find this school
year to be a successful one!
Sincerely,
Tim J. Schurman,
Superintendent
